Here you go,  slightly different as I had to rebuild the scene from scratch and change the layout to accomodate  the wider view.

That is a beautiful piece. Very, very nice. It would work perfectly as a movie poster.

This arrangement reminds me of some of the shot angles used in "2001: A Space Odyssey".  In fact, that's the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the thumbnail!

Kudos for capturing Kubric's 'eye'.

That was exactly my first thought, too.  Although, I think S.K. probably would have gotten more of the engines of the Star Destroyer.  Either way, the positioning and the lighting is perfect.

Sometimes I wonder what Star Wars as done by Kubrick would be like, and then I remember that 2001: ASO probably is that movie.

Now, Star Trek as done by Christopher Nolan...  Well, we can dream, can't we?

In a way, we already got his version of Star Trek with "Interstellar" (one of my favourite movies at the time of writing).  It has many of the themes and motifs from Trek, but instead of a disposable alien 'villain of the week', he gave us a more insidious antagonist: our emotions and emotional baggage.

I get what you're saying, though.  Nolan's version of JJ's soft-reboot would have been so much more... complete.

Oh, I think Interstellar, Apollo 13, and The Martian are some of the better Star Trek movies ever made. You know, they just don't have warp drive.

LOL!

Actually, I consider The Martian as a Discovery Channel special, with more characterization, and a bit less science then usual.  ;)

Good movies, nonetheless.  And I do hope that we get more like that.
