The current resource appreciation contest over on foundation3d is to create a magazine or book cover.

Thought I would give it a go :)

I was aiming for something along the lines the of the old Ladybird books I read as a child. These small hardback books, often with superb painted illustrations and covers were reading primers and covered all sorts of fiction and non fiction.

Render and post process by me

The resource appreciation contest is a friendly way of showing off and saying thanks for the many available models on the site. It runs for two months so there is plenty of time to get an entry in ;)

Hey, the post process came out great. Has a nice loose paint feel. I wonder if I should give the contest a go? You know me and my book cover fetish ;p

Don't their rules say that the entrant has to make either the model or background in the image from scratch? Or did I misread?

Misread I think.

As I understand it the image must either
a) Contain an available site resource
or
b) Contain a non site model provided the model is uploaded to the site on the same day that the image is submitted.

As long as the main subject is an item found in the F3D resources and meets the image size requirements you're good to go :)

Strange...

its been near thirty years since Empire, and STILL - STILL! - people depict the battle of Hoth!!

We have had the prequels, and I seldom see any art relating to them despite the rich SFX they have.

Hoth has not as many (by modern standards) but still is relived and revived like here in this excellent picture - and once again your skills and compositions have turned into a masterpiece - if they do not take this as a winner for a magazine cover, they are tasteless idiots!
